Wonder Essay #2
I think Wonder was made to make a message to people. (phone message)  August has face distorter and everyone makes fun of him.(People giggling) In story you will learn about August and his life which brings up don't judge a boy by his face. (Wonder Book)

In the beginning his parents want him to go to school but August does not want to go to school. (school) Later August decides to go on a tour of the school. (tour) He meets three kids named Jack Will, Julian, and Charlotte.(three kids)  They give him the tour of the school. During the tour he is really shy and did not talk. August ended up liking the other kids. He decided to go to school. (shy kid)

Later in the story he becomes Jack's friend. (2 friends)  But on Halloween Jack said lots of mean stuff about August and Jack did not know that August heard what Jack said. (a kid snickering)  The next day’s August was mad at Jack and Jack did not know why. (a kid ignoring some one) "I was going to sit at my usual desk... answered the mummy." Jack kept asking but August did not answer. Later in science Julian tells Jack to leave August's group and join his. (a kid asking some one) Julian said lots of mean stuff about August, and Jack punched him in the face! (a kid punching some one) Jack gets suspended. (some one kicking him out) That day his mom came in to school. When he got back he explained everything to August. (kid explaining stuff) August forgave him, and they became friends. (friends) When they got to camp they ran in to the woods to go to the bathroom. (camp)  They herd some noise in the back so they went to check it out. (kids looking) They saw 7^th and 8^th graders lighting fireworks. (Older kids)  They started to make fun of August and were going to beat him up. (kids making fun of some one)  That was when Amos, Miles, and Henry came is and ran into Eddie. (big fight) Then they all ran away from the other kids. (kids running)  Next Eddie tried to grab August but he missed. ( reaching for some thing)  They hid in a corn field, but it was pitch black. Then August realized that Eddie had taken his hearing aids. (Kids at night siting)

  It was the end of the school year and they were giving out awards to different kids. (trophy) They were on the last award of the day, the honor student, “August Pullman!” (announcer) August was in shock as everyone was clapping for him. (people clapping) On their way home his mom and dad where so proud of him. (happy parents)  August could keep his head up high from now on. (smile)  The way things turned around for August shows don't judge a boy by his face.  At the beginning he was being bulled, and kicked around every day, (mean kids) but now he gets a reword for being cool and nice. (cool kid)

I think R.J Palacio tells us this message because she does not think it is fair to make fun of kids. (Back of Wonder) It is just like don’t judge a book by its cover because you might end up liking it (Smile) just how they ended up liking August. Don't judge a boy by his face. (Book Wonder)
